Scotland’s WXV 2 title fate will be decided after Italy’s game with the USA on Saturday.

Bryan Easson’s team put themselves in the mix after beating Japan 38-7 in Cape Town on Friday with a third win from three.

And that result means they have equalled their best every run of six consecutive wins.

Japan actually led 7-0 when Iroha Nagata crossed the line, but Scotland then began to take control.

Emma Orr (2), Coreen Grant, Lana Skeldon and Sarah Bonar all crossed the line to get the job done.

Italy, who have 10 points from their first two games, play the USA at 4pm this afternoon at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.

If they claim a bonus-point victory the title will go to  points difference.

The Italians are currently +31, while Scotland are now +55.

Five match points and a win by 25 points or more would be enough for the title to be snatched away from Bryan Easson’s squad.

If the points differential are identical, try difference will come into effect.  Scotland have finished their programme with a try count of +10; Italy’s is +4.
