BORDERER Rory Sutherland has a new club.

The Hawick man has joined French Top 14 club Oyonnax on a one-year deal, and linked up with his new team-mates on Monday (October 23).

He could make his debut away to Toulon on Sunday (October 29).

The 31-year-old became a free agent when the Worchester Warriors went into liquidation last season and agreed a short-term deal with Ulster, but was released in June.

Capped 31 times by Scotland and three times by the British and Irish Lions, the Borderer started his pro career at Edinburgh. He spent seven years at Murrayfield between 2014 and 2021.

He was part of Gregor Townsend’s Scotland World Cup squad and made his debut in the tournament in the victory over Tonga.

Oyonnax gained promotion to the French top flight last season and have won one of their three league matches in the new campaign.
