BERWICKSHIRE flyer Cameron Tindle had to settle for silver on Saturday at the National Indoor Open meeting in Glasgow.

The 18-year-old clocked 6.90 – quicker than his winning time last year – to finish just behind Allan Hamilton of Sale Harriers at the Emirates Arena.

There was also a silver medal for Selkirk teenager Henry Clarkson who reached 13.51 metres in the triple jump to finish just behind Glasgow’s Aidan Quin.

Jordan Charters from Dolphinton, who jumps for Sale Harriers, finished third in the open long jump with a distance of 7.01 metres.

Clarkson was further down the field in 6th with a distance of 6.75 metres.

Despite being the youngest in the field, Cardrona’s Ellie O’Hara finished 4th in the B triple jump.

The 13-year-old, who is coached in Peebles by Linda Nicholson, reached 10.48 metres.

Innerleithen’s Bryony Patterson was just a few centimetres further back in 5th.

Gavin Bryson from Lauder broke the tape in the B final of the 1500 metres with a time of 4.05.31.

And Hannah Hamilton-Meikle from Chirnside Chasers finished second in the B final of the Under 15s 60 metres hurdles.

The Scottish Athletics Indoor Championship take place at the Emirates Arena on Saturday, January 28.
