A restaurant in Scotland has been named one of the new Bib Gourmands for 2024 by the prestigious Michelin Guide.

According to the guide, the Bib Gourmand Award is given to eateries offering "high quality" meals for a "reasonable price".

The Michelin Guide explains: "There’s no set formula for a 'Bib' restaurant – they are all unique and can vary greatly from one place to the next.

"What Bib restaurants do have in common is their simpler style of cooking, which is recognisable and easy-to-eat. A Bib Gourmand restaurant will also leave you with a sense of satisfaction, at having eaten so well at such a reasonable price."

The Scottish restaurant featured among the Michelin Guide's 20 new Bib Gourmands for 2024 was 'tipo' in Edinburgh.

Michelin said: "Last, but certainly not least, we hop back over the water to Edinburgh and the house-made pastas at tipo. Options like bigoli cacio pepe or pappardelle with crab and chilli are designed for sharing and served in light, airy surroundings."

The restaurant has also seen a great deal of praise from diners with the eatery being given a 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor.

One visitor said of the establishment: "Fabulous food, inspired menu, this why we come to Edinburgh. These guys have another three restaurants, I’d thoroughly recommend this place."

Another said: "Delicious and inventive menu. Each dish was a perfect little masterpiece. We had 6 dishes between the two of us and that was plenty."

A third diner added: "Amazing food. Great cocktails and all the Pasta dishes are fantastic. Would also highly recommend the bream, cooked to perfection. Highly recommended. Loved this place."
