A man who admitted driving while more than six times the legal alcohol limit has been remanded in custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Adrian Strangeways, from Newtown St Boswells, appeared from custody on a warrant on Friday after failing to appear at previous appointments for background reports into the offence.

Sentence was deferred for the previously ordered reports and Strangeways was remanded in custody until April 29. He previously admitted the offence which happened on the A708 road near Craig Douglas in the Yarrow Valley on September 4.

Strangeways recorded a breath/alcohol count of 137 microgrammes – the legal limit being 22.

An interim disqualification has already been imposed.
