A BORDERS housing association has praised the efforts of staff and police during last night's incident in Selkirk.
Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, April 10) a 'suspicious package' was found in an SBHA property in the Kirk Wynd area of the town by staff clearing out a vacant property.
At around 3.20pm SBHA staff alerted the police and an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) unit was dispatched last night to dispose of the package in a 'controlled explosion'.

An SBHA spokesperson said: “During a routine clear-out of an empty property in the Kirk Wynd area of Selkirk yesterday, our team discovered a suspicious package and alerted police.
"We would like to thank our team members for their vigilance, and the emergency services for their swift response.
"We would also like to thank all those affected by the incident for their patience while the police worked to ensure everyone’s safety.”
Residents in streets surrounding the SBHA property were evacuated as a precaution.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
