AROUND 150 bales of hay have been destroyed in two fires in the Borders that police believe are connected.
Emergency services responded to a fire within a farm shed located in a field off Earlston Road, Stow, shortly before 2.30am on Sunday (March 17).
It was established that around 90 bales of hay were destroyed, according to police.
On Tuesday, March 5, approximately 60 bales of hay that were stored in a separate shed were destroyed on land off Earlston Road.
Detectives in Galashiels are appealing for information following the incidents.
Detective Constable Louise Begley of CID said: “We believe these two incidents are connected and we are investigating them as wilful fire raising.
“I am appealing to anyone with any information to come forward by contacting Police Scotland on 101, quoting 0454 of March 17, 2024 or alternatively reporting via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
