A BID to fill headteacher and senior education role vacancies in the Borders is moving a step forward this week.

Scottish Borders Council has several leadership opportunities, including headteacher roles at primary level and a principal education psychologist.

And the local authority is keen to hear from dedicated and enthusiastic professionals looking to be part of a “dynamic and forward-thinking department”.

Following the success of two recruitment sessions in September last year, SBC is holding a further event this week for those in senior education roles, who are considering the next step in their leadership journey.

The recruitment event takes place today (Friday, February 23) at Inspire Learning: Tweedbank – SBC’s new Centre of Excellence, which provides a digital training space where equal access to technology is available to young people, families, business, and organisations.

The session, running from 2-4pm, gives candidates the chance to speak in depth to existing heads and senior managers to find out more about what it is like to be a leader within SBC education and the strategic plan that is in place to support all learners.

Councillor Leagh Douglas, SBC’s executive member for education and lifelong learning, said: “Following the two recruitment sessions that we ran in September last year, we recruited several headteacher roles, and these successful candidates are now in post.

“This is an exciting time for education in our region and I would encourage anyone who would like to be part of our vision to come along and talk to us about the range of opportunities that we have available.”
