A BORDERS Valentine's Day business event has been hailed a success after welcoming attendees from across Scotland.

The Social Media For Business event at Borders College on February 14 was a first for organisers McGowan Marketing.

The event saw more than 80 participants joins from across a variety of businesses and sectors.

A highlight of the event was the keynote presentation from Amy Moore and Kirsten Cameron, founders of Aquarius Creative - a social media influencer agency which appeared on the BBC programme The Agency: Unfiltered .

Amy said: "We were delighted to see so many people attend the event.

"We hadn't expected that number of participants at all.

"It was great to tell everyone about our story and hear about their social media experiences, too.

"Hopefully, our advice during the Q&A will have helped people."

Attendees at the Valentine's event came from Borders, Edinburgh, Stirling, and Glasgow and worked across the private, public and third sectors.

The event also featured a line-up of dynamic speakers, workshops and networking opportunities to help attendees boost their social media presence.

Emily McGowan, founder of the marketing company, said: "We often manage events for clients, but as our first McGowan Marketing event, this one was special.

"I'm so pleased that feedback from the event has been overwhelmingly positive.

"People learned a lot and left feeling more informed and inspired by the opportunities of using social media.

"McGowan Marketing would like to thank Borders College for their invaluable support in making the event a resounding success and looks forward to hosting future initiatives to empower businesses to thrive in the digital age."

The event helped facilitate meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing between attendees and specialists.

And participants left Borders College with a toolkit on how to harness the power of social media to their business's benefit.
