A SELKIRK pupil has won the council's 2023 Christmas card competition.

Katie Lukosius, who is in P6 at Knowepark Primary School, was chosen as the winning entry from dozens from across the school.

Each year Scottish Borders Council (SBC) chooses a different school to run the competition in.

Katie's winning design will feature on the council's main Christmas card, and for her design she also received a £25 voucher.

This year's winners were chosen by SBC convener Watson McAteer.

Mr McAteer said: “It was a really difficult decision to decide on the winning design, but the warm festive feel of Katie’s design won us all over.

“We choose a different school each year to run our Christmas card competition, and we were thrilled to work with Knowepark Primary School in Selkirk this festive season.

“A big thank you to headteacher Mrs Wilson and hard-working staff for helping to co-ordinate the competition.”

In addition to Katie's first place win, Alice Lawlor won second place and was given a £15 book voucher, and in third place was Lily Munro, who received a £10 book voucher.

Mrs Wilson added: “We were delighted to be chosen for this year’s Christmas card contest and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed getting in the Christmas spirit producing their designs.”
