AFTER being put on hold for two years due to coronavirus, the Langlee Carnival made a triumphant return at the weekend.

Thankfully the sun came out following heavy downpours earlier in the week.

And all of the Langlee community came together to enjoy the day.

One of the organisers shared to social media: “After a day of reflection, the only conclusion I can come to about yesterday is, what a brilliant day.

“Thank you so much to each and everyone off you for turning up and making the day so great.

“It has been a tough few years for everyone but by having affordable family fun days it will hopefully make life just that little bit happier again.”

The Carnival was opened by Langlee Lads Jamie Russell and Corey Murray and Langlee Lass Aimee Quinn.

Like many events this weekend, Langlee Carnival paid its respects to Queen Elizabeth II after she died on Thursday.

Ahead of the festival, organisers said: “We are deeply saddened about the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“Although we appreciate it is a sad time for the nation we feel at this moment in time and with the past difficult few years it is good to bring the community together again.

“The Carnival will go ahead as planned after seeking advice from Live Borders and SBC [Scottish Borders Council].

“Please note before the opening ceremony we will hold a minute’s clap in honour and respect of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”

In addition to a round of applause for Her Majesty, a speciality tea was served at the Carnival to celebrate her reign.

Organisers added: “We would like to say thank you to all who sponsored, donated and helped us with our day.

“We are not a profit making event, each year pays for the following year, so everyone who contributes to our event we very grateful.

“We would like to thank everyone for their help on the day as well.”
