A LANDSCAPING company from Stow has just retained a major industry award.

And bosses at Stow Construction and Landscaping are hoping their prizewinning patio in Clovenfords will go on to become the best in Britain.

Paving provider Marshalls inspected around 200 entries for their recent Scottish awards.

And they judged the paving, walls and stepping just outside Galashiels as best in the New Product Category.

Graeme Steel, managing director of Stow Construction and Landscaping, accepted the award at a recent dinner.

He told us: "We won this category last year with a patio in Peebles, so it is great for our business and our workforce that we have won again.

"Industry honours are difficult to come by as there is a lot of competition."

Mr Steel, who has been in the landscaping business for 15 years, currently employs nine staff.

And he hopes they will celebrate further in March when the Clovenfords entry goes up against other regional winners at the National Football Centre in Staffordshire.

Mr Steel added: "Our winning entry from last year is now featured in the Marshalls brochure.

"It would be great if we could feature in the brochure again - the contractor of the year winner also receives a brand new truck."
